I have been attempting to get some video of Ms. Boom playing with her soccer ball. Or recently just playing period. However she has had other plans. This afternoon I had her in her exersaucer (which she loves). Boom was laughing and giggling and playing and Mommy thought yes I will get video for Aunt B. I know its not her soccer ball but at least its Boom playing. I took three videos. Maybe I should upload them anyways. Each time I started she looked up at the camera and then started crying. As soon as I shut off the camera she started to smile, laugh and play. All I can say is I hope Aunt B understands that Boom really took to heart Aunt B saying Boom doesn't have to be a performing monkey.
Other than that she is doing well. She has started making it through church services so Mommy has been able to sit through all of church. She behaves really well and always helps the pastor pray the closing prayer. Each time for the last three weeks she has been silent all of service until the last prayer and then during the prayer she just starts to jabber. Luckily there are lots of new babies in church so people take it really well!

Boom's first Halloween
Well it was not really Halloween but for whatever reason the city of Troy always has trick or treat on the Thursday before Halloween so tonight was Boom's first trick or treat. We didn't take her trick or treating (since she is almost five months old that would be a pretty obvious Mommy and Daddy want candy night), but she did help us pass out candy for the first hour. We dressed her up as Winnie-the-Pooh and she looked adorable. Boom's mommy was surprised by the number of Michael Jackson costumes. I mean I know that he passed away this year but some how seeing six and seven year old kids dressed as a dead 80s pop star just seems odd.
Anyways Boom got fussy after the first hour so Boom's daddy passed out candy and mommy and Boom came inside and got ready for bed.
We are very much looking forward to the weekend which is Boom's five month mark and Boom's Daddy's birthday. YAY!!!

Boom's favorite bib - and new favorite food
Well Boom has really started to get better at eating off the spoon. She is wearing here favorite bib here. It says "My Auntie Loves Me."

Additionally Ms. Boom has new favorite food. It is sweet potatos. I personally think YUCK but hey that is what she likes. So here favorite food list is currently as follows:
1. Peas
2. Prunes (I know right)
3. Sweet Potatos
Personally I think she may be a little weird here. She does not really like fruits and we recently found out that she is allergic to bananas - which is a really unusual allergy in a baby. The doctor says to try again at one because she probably will out grow it by then.
Boom's first trophy

Well I am extremely biased but I have always thought that my baby was one of the cutest around (I actually think the cutest), but yesterday we got a little bit on of confirmation of that. Ms. Boom won third prize in the under 1 catagory at the Halloween parade. she was soooo cute as Winnie the Pooh and here are the pics to prove it!!

Visit with Aunt B and Uncle R
Well this has been a busy month which is why there has not been an update recently. Most importantly on October 1st Aunt B got two weeks R&R from Iraq and Uncle R had not yet deployed so we got to see everyone at Nana's and Papa's in Virginia. It was awesome! Boom loves Aunt B and Uncle R and trust me the feeling was mutual. I think Boom's mommy's favorite part was coming downstairs and hearing Aunt B explaining the use of the MK 4 rifle in a sing song voice. As Aunt B pointed out as long as you say it in a sing song voice babies just love to listen. It was very funny. Another funny part was Uncle R getting very upset (rightfully so) that there is no "I love my Uncle" stuff. There is some Aunt stuff but no Uncle stuff. If anyone is looking for a market there is definately one here!!!! Here are some pictures from the visit. It was great!!!

Surviving the first illness
Well, its official - Boom has survived her first illness. I took her to the doctor on Tuesday and she was diagnosed with a stomach bug that was going around town. Poor baby was pretty miserable but she has since gotten much better - though she is not quite a 100% yet. It was really hard on Boom's Mommy because I could not make it better she just has to wait the virus out. That kind of stinks! Although now that she is feeling better she finds it funny that she can blow bubbles out her nose - mommy finds it pretty gross! She also really hates the saline drops that I am supposed to put in her nose to help dry up the congestion. I really feel like she is yelling "I hate you" when I do this. But now that she is feeling a little better she is more like her happy self. YAY!!!

The most disgusting kiss!!!
So today Boom's mommy was playing with Boom and went in to give her a kiss. This usually is a normal affair but Boom turned her head and spitup in on my lips. EWWWWWWW. And then she smiled. They say babies don't know what they are doing at this age - oh they do, and sometimes they are a little evil. But soooooo cute and loveable!

Gamma's birthday!!!
Well since Aunt J couldn't come visit this weekend we decided we would travel to Virginia to see Gamma and my parents (Granny and Papa) for Gamma's 80th birthday.
Gamma was very excited to see Boom when she woke up. We got to Virginia at about 11 on Friday. Gamma was asleep so we went down and woke her up and she said
Are you staying the night?" We said "Nope just drove in to say Happy Birthday headed back home now!" She was so asleep she thought it was a dream and didn't realize we were really there until the next morning. How funny.

Ms. Boom did so good on the way there - not quite so much on the way home but since she is three months old can't really blame her.
Boom had a lot of fun with Granny and Papa and Gamma. One of the best parts was when Gamma let Boom play with her cake.
All in all a good weekend even though Aunt J could come. On the really bright side AirTran refunded her ticket due to Swine flu concerns so she still get to come over her spring break!!
No Aunt J. :(
Well unfortunately Aunt J wasn't able to come visit this weekend because she was expossed to swine flu this last week. Luckily she is doing fine. Prayers please though for the lady who exposed who because she is seven months pregnant and not doing as well.
Here is a picture of how Evie reacted when she found out Aunt J couldn't come.

Poor Boom!

Well, Boom's Daddy has decided that she is going to be a Cleveland Browns fan. As such he has already taken to dressing her up for his team. Here is a picture of Boom in just one of her Browns outfits. Aunt B has decided she needs to be raised with dual loyalties since Mommy is a Falcon's fan. So we will have a Falcons bib on with her Browns outfits when we go watch the games. Unfortunately for Boom neither team can really be classified a winner (although the Falcons are much better!).
We will see whose able to gain her allegiance when she is older! :)

San Antonio here I come.
Well I going on my first business trip since Boom was born. I am not going to lie - I don't like it but at least I will only be gone a few days. In November I have to go to Dubai for a week and a half so I guess this is good practice.
Well I don't care what anyone says babies know when something is up. Yesterday I was a little sad about leaving Boom and I know she sensed something. She was very clinging yesterday evening - which I probably encouraged. Also fun was last night. She slept from eight until three - that is pretty good for her. We can finally see the light at the end of the sleeping through the night tunnel.
Anyways after she got up at three she thought it was play time. While this is cute at eight or even possibly six, it is not cute at three. She did not want to be in her crib, or her bouncer. I finally was able to rock her back to sleep at 4:30. My alarm goes off at 4:50 for work. I love being a mommy but today is a caffeine day!
She was nice and asleep when I left for work this morning so I thought I would stop by the daycare on my way to pickup my luggage and say bye. This was a huge mistake. She thought this was a normal day - as I am the one that picks her up, and got very excited. She then cried when I put her back down and told her bye (I shed a few tears too). Won't do that on the next trip. Ahh lessons learned.
So Boom's daddy is now a single daddy for the next few days and I know he will do great. Who wants to bet she picks this time to sleep through the night for the first time!!!

Why Boom?
Well if you are reading this blog, or found it through the wonder that is the internet you may be cringing thinking OMG this woman named her baby girl Boom! What kind of a parent does that. Please rest assured this is not the case. My daughter has a beautiful first name - Eve and her middle name is Olivia. Since our last name begins with a D, her initials spell EOD. Now at this point many out there are probably thinking- yeah so?
Well Boom's Aunt B is active duty Army and currently stationed in Iraq. Aunt B pointed out while Boom was still in the womb that EOD is explosive ordnance device in other words a bomb. As soon as Aunt B realized this she nicknamed Eve Boom. It appears that the nickname has stuck in my family so hopefully she will be an athlete where this will be useful. She is still mostly called by her first name but Aunt B only acknowledges her as Boom. Which is very cute. Seeing as how this blog is mostly for Aunt B I thought the title Boom's mommy was very appropriate.
Aunt B is going to get to meet Boom in person in October and trust me Boom could not be more pleased!!!

Why a Blog??
Why a blog???
Well, my little girl is two and half months old and will be three months old in a week - this does not seem possible. I have a friend from college, G, who lives far from several of those she loves and uses a blog to update us on her cute little boy Joe. I was born and raised in Texas and was transplanted to Ohio several years ago so several of my loved one are far away. This blog will help update without me constantly updating facebook - or God forbid calling family at 5 am because Boom laughed - yep did that! Boom's Papa was not overly amused.
Since technically this is the internet I am going to follow G's great example and post only first initials of adults. I hope you enjoy!!!
